I can't believe that this is my last day in Ireland and that three months of studying have come to an end. This is a bittersweet feeling for me. I can't wait to get home and see my family and friends that I have missed so much, but I am also going to miss the wonderful local people I have met and peers whom I have traveled with for past three months. Last weekend we took our last field trip to Dingle. On the way we stopped at the Cliffs of Moher. This was my second time visiting the cliffs. Last time I was there it was rainy and muddy. This time the sun was shinning and it was beautiful. The cliffs looked completely different. I was feeling a little daring and crawled on my belly to look over the edge. The view was absolutely incredible and picture cannot do it justice. Our second stop was the flying boat museum in Foynes, Ireland. I had never heard of a flying boat before. We learned about the first flight and got to tour a model of a flying boat. We also learned about how to make a perfect Irish coffee since Irish coffee was first made in Foynes, Ireland. Once we reached Dingle we took a bus tour of this adorable little town and through the country side. That night we explored the nightlife of Dingle. I sang a duet with an Irish lad and had a blast dancing and laughing with the locals and my peers. The next day we took a three hour bus ride to the Blarney Castle. I personally love the long bus rides because it gives me time to admire Ireland and listen to my music. The Blarney Castle was a place I have been looking forward to visiting since I have arrived in Ireland and it definitely lived up to my expectations. I explored the Castle, kissed the Blarney stone, walked through the Poison garden and walked up the wishing steps. This place was simple beautiful. There were flowers blooming and waterfalls through out the gardens. The wishing steps something that I haven't of. The legend goes that the Blarney witch would steel wood from the Blarney Castle, and in return she would grant anyone a wish within three years if they walk backwards up her steps with your eyes closed. You must be thinking of your wish the entire time you walk up the steps as well.
Monday night was the Park Lodge Banquet. The banquet turned out to a success full of laughs, drinks and food. After dinner we played the tin whistle and showed our teachers and Park Lodge staff what we learned in Irish dancing class. It was a great way of ending this unforgettable trip. I am so grateful for the Park Lodge staff, our bus and taxi drivers, teachers, Renee, Dr. C, who has been a great adviser and my wonderful peers who have transformed into wonderful friends. They will always have a special place in my heart. I will never forget all the memories and I have forever been changed. The Craic was mighty! I can't wait to do more traveling and visit Ireland again. Till then, Slainte Ireland!
